About
USAspending.gov is the U.S. Treasury's record of federal spending. It shows what the government obligated to a company's entities in contracts, grants, loans and direct payments, by quarter, agency or subsidiary, with the awards behind those totals. It also lists the contract vehicles a company holds, their ceilings and the orders placed so far, and the subcontracts it won from prime contractors.
These are obligations in federal fiscal years, which start in October. They are not reported revenue. A loan counts at its subsidy cost, not the amount lent. A multiple-award vehicle's ceiling is shared by every company on it, and subcontract reporting is incomplete. Companies are found through their registered entities, usually a parent and several subsidiaries.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is an MCP server that Marvin Labs runs and authenticates. There is no URL to paste and no key to find: USAspending is on for your account unless you turn it off. AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the USAspending Connector require authentication?
- No. Marvin Labs holds the USAspending credentials and signs every request, so there is nothing to set up.
- Does USAspending change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. USAspending is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is USAspending available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
