Frequently asked questions
- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is a remote MCP server that a third party runs and Marvin Labs knows how to reach. Marvin Labs supplies the endpoint and the setup; you bring your own Unusual Whales account. Once added, AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the Unusual Whales Connector require authentication?
- Yes. Unusual Whales issues an API token for your account, which you enter when adding the Connector. It is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again.
- Does Unusual Whales change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. Unusual Whales is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is Unusual Whales available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
