About
Alpha Vantage publishes real-time and historical market data for stocks, ETFs, foreign exchange, cryptocurrencies and commodities, alongside company fundamentals, economic indicators, technical indicators and a market news feed with sentiment scores. It is the quickest way to put a price series, an FX rate or an indicator next to a company's numbers. Throughput follows your key: the free tier allows 25 requests a day, and premium plans start at 75 a minute.
You need an Alpha Vantage API key. It is free, asks only for an email address and arrives immediately from alphavantage.co. Click Add and paste the key: it is encrypted before it is stored, never written into the connection URL, and never shown again. You can replace it later without removing the server.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is a remote MCP server that a third party runs and Marvin Labs knows how to reach. Marvin Labs supplies the endpoint and the setup; you bring your own Alpha Vantage account. Once added, AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the Alpha Vantage Connector require authentication?
- Yes. Alpha Vantage needs an API key from your account, which you paste when adding the Connector. It is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again.
- Does Alpha Vantage change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. Alpha Vantage is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is Alpha Vantage available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
