About
FRED is the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis's database of U.S. and international economic indicators: CPI, PCE, real GDP, unemployment, the fed funds rate and Treasury yields. It is the macro backdrop for a company's numbers, what inflation, rates and growth were doing over the same periods. This product uses the FRED® API but is not endorsed or certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
Nothing to set up. Marvin Labs runs this connector and holds its credentials, so it is on unless you turn it off under Connectors in settings. Supply your own FRED key to get your own 120 requests per minute instead of the shared budget. It is free and instant.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is an MCP server that Marvin Labs runs and authenticates. There is no URL to paste and no key to find: FRED is on for your account unless you turn it off. AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the FRED Connector require authentication?
- No. Marvin Labs holds the FRED credentials and signs every request, so there is nothing to set up. You can add your own FRED key under Connectors in settings to get your own rate limit instead of the shared one. It does not change which data the Connector returns.
- Does FRED change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. FRED is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is FRED available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
