About
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission publishes the Commitments of Traders report every Friday: how many contracts commercial hedgers, non-commercial speculators and small traders held long and short in each futures market at the previous Tuesday's close. That is who was on which side of crude, gold, the dollar or the VIX while it moved — the one macro input FRED does not carry. This connector serves the legacy futures-only report and works out the net figures, which the report has no column for. CFTC data is public domain; the agency asks to be acknowledged, and answers do.
Nothing to set up, and no key to bring. Marvin Labs runs this connector against a public endpoint that takes no credential, so it is on unless you turn it off under Connectors in settings.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is an MCP server that Marvin Labs runs and authenticates. There is no URL to paste and no key to find: CFTC is on for your account unless you turn it off. AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the CFTC Connector require authentication?
- No. Marvin Labs holds the CFTC credentials and signs every request, so there is nothing to set up.
- Does CFTC change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. CFTC is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is CFTC available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
