About

Fintel's data is about who holds a stock and who is short it: institutional ownership from 13F filings, insider transactions from SEC Forms 3, 4 and 5, short interest, borrow rates, short volume and fails-to-deliver. End-of-day prices and lookup by ticker, CUSIP, ISIN or FIGI come with it. Read next to the filings, it shows whether funds are adding and short sellers are crowding in. Fintel says some of the short datasets depend on your account.

API access comes with a Fintel Silver or Gold subscription and is licensed for personal use; anything larger needs Fintel's approval. Generate a key in the Fintel Developer Dashboard, then click Add and paste it. It is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Connector?
A Connector is a remote MCP server that a third party runs and Marvin Labs knows how to reach. Marvin Labs supplies the endpoint and the setup; you bring your own Fintel account. Once added, AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
Does the Fintel Connector require authentication?
Yes. Fintel issues an API token for your account, which you enter when adding the Connector. It is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again.
Does Fintel change how financial data is sourced?
No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. Fintel is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
Where is Fintel available?
In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
