Morningstar's data is its independent research on funds, equities and managed portfolios: star ratings, fair value estimates, economic moat ratings, EPS, NAV and fund size, with the articles and methodologies behind them. It is a house view to test a thesis against, from a name most investors already read.
Access comes through Morningstar Direct Web Services and is arranged with Morningstar, not self-served, so you need a Morningstar account with that access. Click Add and sign in when the window opens. There is no API key to find.

- What is a Connector?
- A Connector is a remote MCP server that a third party runs and Marvin Labs knows how to reach. Marvin Labs supplies the endpoint and the setup; you bring your own Morningstar account. Once added, AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents call its tools when a question needs them, and the answer shows which tool was called and what it returned.
- Does the Morningstar Connector require authentication?
- Yes. Adding Morningstar opens its sign-in window, where you approve access with your own Morningstar account. Marvin Labs never sees your password; Morningstar issues a token you can revoke on its side at any time.
- Does Morningstar change how financial data is sourced?
- No. When a question can be answered from the filings, earnings calls, and press releases Marvin Labs ingests through Automated Data Import, it answers from those. Morningstar is used only when a question needs data those documents do not carry, and the answer attributes that output to it.
- Where is Morningstar available?
- In both AI Analyst Chat and Deep Research Agents. Its tools stay out of the model's context until a request needs one, so an unused Connector takes up no context window.
